How to Save and Share Replays in osu!

On the results screen, press F2 to save that play as an.osr replay file. After a failed Solo play, press F2 on the game-over screen instead. An.osr file records your inputs so osu! can recreate the play; it is not a video. Share the file as an attachment or link, and tell the recipient which exact beatmap and difficulty to install before opening it in osu!.

Open the play's results

Finish the play and stay on its osu! results screen. For a failed Solo attempt, stay on the game-over screen instead.

Export the replay with F2

Press F2 once while that result is visible. osu! writes an .osr file to its Replays folder; do not copy files from the hidden Data\r folder.

Find the exported .osr file

In File Explorer, open the folder named Replays inside your osu! installation folder. Sort it by date if several files are present, then choose the newest .osr file that matches the player, song, difficulty, and date in its filename.

Share the replay file

Attach the .osr to a message or upload it to a file service and share a permission-controlled link. Tell the recipient which exact beatmap and difficulty the replay uses.

Verify the shared replay

Open the exported .osr with osu! or drag it onto the running client. The import worked when the score appears on the local leaderboard and osu! can play the replay for the matching beatmap.

If it does not work

  • If F2 saves nothing, return to the specific result or failed Solo game-over screen; F2 does not export an arbitrary older play from song selection.
  • If the recipient cannot watch it, have them install the exact beatmap and difficulty recorded in the replay, then open the .osr again.
  • If the recipient needs a clip for a normal video player, record the replay as a video. An .osr file contains osu! replay data and is not MP4 footage.
