Easy Anti-Cheat is normally installed automatically with each protected game. If a game says it is not installed, verify that game's files first. If the exact error remains, use the EasyAntiCheat folder and product ID supplied with that game. Use Easy Anti-Cheat's separate service-repair command only after the normal game repair fails.
No exact EAC errorRepair or verify the affected game through its normal launcher first.
EAC is not installedUse that game's EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe and productid from Settings.json.
Service still failsRun Easy Anti-Cheat's documented Windows service repair as an administrator.
Write down the Easy Anti-Cheat error and the game name. Easy Anti-Cheat is shared by many games, but the installation files and product ID come from the affected game. Never download a setup file or replacement DLL from another website.
2
Let the game repair its own files
Close the game and launcher, restart Windows, and run Verify, Repair, or Scan and Repair for that game in its normal launcher. In Steam, use Library > the game > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. Launch the game once after the check.
3
Find the files for an ‘EAC is not installed’ error
If that exact error remains, open the game's installation folder and then its EasyAntiCheat subfolder. Confirm it contains EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe and Settings.json. Open Settings.json in Notepad and copy only the value of productid.
4
Install the game-specific service
Advanced step: open Command Prompt as Administrator, use cd followed by the quoted path to that game's EasyAntiCheat folder, then run EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe install <productid>, replacing <productid> with the value from Settings.json. Run echo %ERRORLEVEL%. A result of 0 means the install succeeded; any other value means it failed.
5
Repair the shared Windows service if needed
If the game-specific install succeeds but EAC still fails, open Command Prompt as Administrator. Run cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat_EOS", then EasyAntiCheat_EOS.exe repair, then echo %ERRORLEVEL%. No output from the repair command is normal; 0 from the final command confirms success.
6
Restart and use the game's support channel
Restart Windows and launch the game normally. If the same code returns, keep the game name, launcher, Windows version, exact code, and final error level. Easy Anti-Cheat directs players to the relevant game's support channel for unresolved game-specific problems.
If EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe or Settings.json is missing, stop and verify or reinstall the affected game; do not borrow files from another title.
If the command returns a value other than 0, confirm Command Prompt says Administrator and that the folder and product ID came from the same game before contacting its support team.
