Verify the original phone number

Restore when prompted
When WhatsApp finds the backup, review its date and size, tap Restore, and keep the phone online until messages finish restoring. Media can continue downloading afterward.
Handle a missing backup safely
Check that the correct Google account and number are active and that Google Drive or local backup data still exists. Do not overwrite a newer backup while investigating, and do not give credentials to recovery software.
