Delete a WhatsApp Status on Android

Open the Updates tab

Open WhatsApp on the Android phone that posted the status, make sure you are using the correct account, and tap Updates.

Open My status

Tap My status to see the updates you have posted. If several updates appear, open the exact photo, video, or text update you want to remove.

Open More options

While that status update is displayed, tap More options. This is the button with three dots.

Delete the status

Tap Delete, then tap Delete again to confirm. The status should close and disappear from My status.

Remove another update separately

If you posted more than one status update, open the next one and repeat the same steps. WhatsApp does not provide a delete-all option for status updates.

If it does not work

  • If My status is empty, the update may already have been deleted or may have expired. WhatsApp status updates disappear after 24 hours.
  • If the three-dot button is not visible, tap the status once to show its controls, then look in the top-right corner.
  • A contact with a temporary connection problem might still see the deleted update for a short time. Do not repost it just to test whether deletion worked.
