If it does not work
- Check the spelling of the Microsoft gamertag. Your friend can copy or share it from Minecraft’s Social list.
- For a child account, a parent may need to allow “You can add friends on Xbox Live” in the account’s Online Safety settings.
- Minecraft: Java Edition 26.2 uses a separate Friends button and Profile Name search. This Bedrock Edition procedure does not apply to that screen.
