Create a fresh wallpaper
Open Settings > Wallpaper > Add New Wallpaper, choose Photos or an Apple wallpaper category, select the image, and tap Add.

Set the Lock and Home Screens
Choose Set as Wallpaper Pair, or tap Customize Home Screen and select a color, gradient, blur, or separate photo. Lock and wake the iPhone to confirm both screens render.

Check Focus-linked Lock Screens
Touch and hold the Lock Screen, select the intended wallpaper, and check its Focus button. Unlink an unwanted Focus or choose the correct Lock Screen for that Focus.

Update and isolate the issue
Install the latest iOS update. If only one photo fails, duplicate or export it in Photos and use the new copy; if every wallpaper turns black, contact Apple Support with the iPhone model and iOS version.
