Confirm the account and requirements
Open Spotify on iPhone or Android and confirm the signed-in account has Premium. Music downloads require Premium, while podcast availability can differ. Check free device storage before downloading a large library.
Choose download quality and network use
Open Settings and privacy > Data-saving and offline, or the current audio-quality settings, and choose a download quality. Higher quality uses more storage. Keep Download using cellular off if the mobile plan is limited.
Prepare individual songs
Spotify downloads albums and playlists rather than a standalone song from its track page. To keep one song offline, add it to a new or existing playlist, then open that playlist.
Start the download
While connected to the internet, open the intended album or playlist and tap Download. Keep Spotify open or allow it to work in the background until the downloaded indicator appears for the collection.
Verify offline playback
Open Your Library and locate the downloaded album or playlist. Turn on Offline Mode in Spotify or briefly disable connectivity, then play several tracks to confirm their files completed rather than merely being saved to the library.
Maintain and remove downloads
Reconnect at least once every 30 days so Spotify can retain offline access, and keep the same Premium account signed in. To reclaim storage, turn off Download for a collection or use Spotify's remove-download controls; the files cannot be exported as ordinary audio files.

- If the download stalls, confirm Premium status, available storage, a stable connection, and the cellular-download setting. If tracks later become unavailable, reconnect with the same account; remove and redownload only the affected collection after confirming it remains available.
