Fix Spotify Error 22: ‘Restricted to Premium Users’

Answer
When Spotify shows error 22, do not buy Premium again just because of the message. First sign into the intended account in Spotify's web player. If that works, confirm that Windows is supported and reinstall the current official desktop app. Spotify currently supports 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11, and reinstalling removes downloaded music and podcasts that you will need to download again.
Open Settings > System > About and read System type and Windows specifications. Spotify currently supports 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11; use the web player or update the PC if it does not meet that requirement.
Open Spotify's web player in a supported browser and sign into the same account. If the web player shows the correct plan and plays normally, the account is working and the desktop installation is the next thing to repair.
Quit Spotify and confirm it is no longer open in the Windows notification area. Do not manually delete random AppData or Registry entries.

Uninstall the desktop app
Open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find Spotify, open its menu, and choose Uninstall. Your playlists stay with the account, but locally downloaded music and podcasts must be downloaded again after reinstalling.
5
Install the current official app
Download Spotify from its official site or install it from Microsoft Store. Open it, sign into the same account used in the web-player test, and check whether error 22 is gone.
If the web player works but the new desktop app still shows error 22, keep the Windows version, app source, app version, account plan shown online, and screenshot for Spotify Support.

If it does not work
If both the web player and desktop app show an account problem, confirm the email or username before reinstalling again; you may be signed into a different Spotify account.
If the PC cannot run Spotify's current supported Windows versions, use the supported web player or a supported device instead of installing an older unofficial app.
