For stretched, flickering, or misplaced trees in Cyberpunk 2077, relaunch the same save, update the graphics driver, and verify the game in GOG GALAXY, Steam, or Epic. Then load a save from before the glitch. CD Projekt Red does not publish a separate current 'tree glitch' switch, so lowering unrelated graphics settings is not a verified fix.
Stand where the Cyberpunk 2077 trees stretch, flicker, or appear through other objects and make a manual save. Record a short video, exit to Windows, reopen the game, and load that save. Continue when the same tree geometry is still wrong after the relaunch; a one-frame pop-in that disappears is not the persistent defect this page addresses.
2
Update the PC's graphics driver
Open CD Projekt Red's visual-issue page and follow its NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel branch for the graphics card in this PC. Install the current driver using the linked clean-install method, restart Windows, and reload the Cyberpunk 2077 save. Keep the before-video so the same camera view can be compared.
3
Verify Cyberpunk 2077's files
For GOG GALAXY, open Cyberpunk 2077 > Customize > Manage installation > Verify/Repair. For Steam, right-click Cyberpunk 2077 > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. For Epic, select Cyberpunk 2077's three dots > Manage > Verify. Wait for any replacement files to finish downloading before reopening the save.
4
Load a Cyberpunk 2077 save from before the glitch
After verification, load a Cyberpunk 2077 save created before the trees first became distorted and travel back to the same location. If the older save draws the trees normally but the newer save does not, preserve both saves. That result points to the affected save, not to a universal shadow, ray tracing, DLSS, or FSR setting.
5
Clean-install Cyberpunk 2077 if it was modded
If the game has used REDmod, texture packs, ReShade, manual archive mods, trainers, or console commands, a launcher verification may leave extra files behind. Back up %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077 and follow CD Projekt Red's clean-install procedure. Test the same location before restoring saves or any mod.
6
Verify the repaired scene or report it
The defect is fixed when the same Cyberpunk 2077 location draws the trees normally after a relaunch and after reloading the tested save. If it remains, attach the before-video, the affected save folder containing metadata.9.json, sav.dat, and screenshot.png, and a DxDiag report to CD Projekt Red's visual-issue form.
If it does not work
If every Cyberpunk 2077 save shows the same tree distortion after file verification, finish the clean driver or clean game installation before changing individual graphics settings.
If only one save shows the tree glitch, keep the affected save for CD Projekt Red and continue from the newest earlier save that renders the same location correctly.
If the tree glitch returns only after a particular visual mod is restored, leave that mod disabled and report the result to its creator; CD Projekt Red does not support individual community mods.
ⓘ Sources and verification
Checked against official documentation on . Scope: Windows PC.
Source-checked against CD Projekt Red's current PC visual-issue, file-verification, modified-game, and report workflows. CD Projekt Red does not identify a separate current tree-glitch setting, and the defect was not reproduced on a test PC.
