Answer

For the Steam version, open Steam > Settings > In Game and turn on the Performance Overlay, then start Cyberpunk 2077. Choose Single FPS Value for a small counter. NVIDIA and AMD users can use their graphics software overlays instead.

  3. Start Cyberpunk 2077 from Steam
  4. Use the NVIDIA overlay instead
  5. Use the AMD overlay instead
  6. Check the counter in a real scene

Choose one FPS overlay

Use the Steam method if you own the Steam version. Otherwise use the overlay that came with your NVIDIA or AMD graphics software. Running several overlays can clutter the screen and make troubleshooting harder.

Enable Steam's Performance Overlay

In Steam, open Settings > In Game. Find Performance Overlay, choose Single FPS Value, select a screen position, and close Settings.

Start Cyberpunk 2077 from Steam

Launch the game from the same Steam library. Load a save and look in the corner you selected. FPS means frames per second, or how many new pictures the game draws each second.

Use the NVIDIA overlay instead

Open the NVIDIA app, make sure its overlay is enabled, press Alt+Z, and configure Statistics to include FPS. Press Alt+R in the game to show or hide the selected statistics.

Use the AMD overlay instead

Open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition, enable Show Metrics Overlay, and choose the metrics you want. The default shortcut to show or hide it is Ctrl+Shift+O.

Check the counter in a real scene

Move through a repeatable in-game area for 30 seconds. Menus and loading screens do not represent normal gameplay, so compare the same location when testing settings.

If it does not work

  • If the Steam counter is missing, confirm Steam Overlay is enabled for both the client and Cyberpunk 2077, then restart Steam.
  • If Alt+R or Ctrl+Shift+O does nothing, open the graphics app and check whether that shortcut was changed or the overlay was disabled.
  • If the number appears in a recording when you do not want it, disable the overlay's capture option or hide the counter before recording.
