Fix 5.1 Surround Sound Not Working in Chrome on Windows

Remove obsolete Chrome flags, update Chrome, select the correct multichannel Windows output, and confirm the website and source audio actually support surround sound.
Remove obsolete shortcut arguments
Right-click the Chrome shortcut, open Properties and remove any old audio or channel-layout arguments added after chrome.exe. In chrome://flags, use Reset all if you changed experimental audio flags.
Update Chrome
Open Chrome > More > Help > About Google Chrome, allow the update to install, then relaunch the browser.
Select the correct Windows output
Open Settings > System > Sound and choose the HDMI receiver, sound card or multichannel device you actually use. Test the device in Windows before reopening Chrome.
Check the source format
Confirm the streaming service, browser player, media and subscription tier support multichannel playback. Stereo source audio will not become true 5.1 merely by changing Windows or Chrome settings.
Repair the Windows audio path
Install Windows updates and the official audio or graphics driver for the output device. Run the Windows audio troubleshooter if Windows itself cannot play correctly through that device.
