Change or Remove Your Zoom Profile Picture

Source-checked About 10 minutes

Answer

Edit the profile in the Zoom web portal or desktop app, upload a supported image, crop it, and save; organization accounts may restrict changes.

Guide steps7 steps
  1. Open the intended Zoom profile
  2. Select the profile picture
  3. Upload the image
  4. Save and refresh
  5. Check account policy
  6. Verify the result
  7. Remove the picture when needed
  8. If it still does not work

Open the intended Zoom profile

Sign in to the Zoom web portal, open Profile from the navigation menu, and check the displayed name and email before changing the image. This avoids editing a personal account when a work or school account was intended.

Select the profile picture

Select the picture or avatar beside the account profile name. Zoom exposes controls here to add, change, crop, or delete the profile picture.

Upload the image

Choose the image-change control, select the intended image, and adjust the crop area so the important part remains visible in Zoom's circular display.

Save and refresh

Save the change, refresh the Profile page, and reopen the Zoom desktop app if it still shows the previous cached image.

Check account policy

If the picture control is unavailable, ask the account administrator whether profile changes are restricted. Do not create a second Zoom account merely to bypass an organization policy.

Verify the result

Join a harmless test meeting, turn video off, and confirm the intended picture appears for the correct account. Reopen the web profile to verify that the saved source image is also correct.

Remove the picture when needed

Return to the avatar control on the Profile page and choose the available delete or remove action. Refresh the page and a test meeting to confirm Zoom now uses the default avatar.

If it does not work

  • If the image does not update, confirm the active account, refresh the web profile, and restart the desktop app before uploading the same file again.
  • If the change is blocked on a managed account, contact its Zoom administrator and keep the original image file; do not weaken account controls or create a duplicate identity.
