Remove a Friend on Snapchat
Source-checked About 5 minutes
Answer
To remove one Snapchat friend, open the Chat screen, press and hold their name, then choose Manage Friendship and Remove Friend. Snapchat does not provide a bulk remove option.
Open the Chat screen
Open Snapchat and swipe right to view your chats. Find the friend you want to remove before opening any privacy action.
Open the friendship menu
Press and hold the friend's name in the Chat screen. This opens the actions available for that specific friendship.
Choose Manage Friendship
Select Manage Friendship rather than an option that only clears a conversation from your view. Review the name once more so you do not remove the wrong person.
Remove the friend
Select Remove Friend and confirm if Snapchat asks. The person is removed from your friends list, but public content and your other privacy settings can still affect what they can see.
Review the difference from blocking
Use Block instead only if you need to stop someone from contacting you under Snapchat's separate blocking rules. Removing a friend does not automatically provide every protection that blocking does.
Repeat one person at a time
Snapchat says there is no supported way to remove multiple friends at once. Repeat the same process for each person rather than using an automation or a third-party tool.

If it does not work
- If you cannot find the person in Chat, use their profile or Search to confirm you have the right account. Do not remove an account based only on a similar display name.
- If the person can still see something after removal, review whether that content is public and check your Story privacy settings. Removal is not the same as blocking.
- If you removed someone by mistake, you must search for them and add them again. Snapchat does not offer a bulk undo action.
