Delete Pages from a PDF in Adobe Acrobat

Source-checked About 3 minutes

Answer

Open a copy of the PDF in Adobe Acrobat, select All tools > Organize pages, then delete the unwanted thumbnail or enter the page numbers in Pages Selected. Confirm the deletion and save the copy. Acrobat must leave at least one page, and a secured PDF may block editing.

Open a working copy

Duplicate the PDF in File Explorer or Finder, then open the copy in Adobe Acrobat. Keep the original closed until the edited copy has been checked.

Open Organize pages

Select All tools > Organize pages. Acrobat should replace the document view with page thumbnails, so identify the unwanted page by its visible content rather than trusting printed page numbers alone.

Delete the unwanted pages

For one page, hover over its thumbnail and select Delete. For several pages, enter comma-separated numbers such as 2, 4 or a range such as 6–8 in Pages Selected, select Delete pages, then choose OK after checking the selection; at least one page must remain.

Save and verify the copy

Select File > Save, close the copy, and reopen it. Confirm the intended pages are gone, the remaining order is correct, and the untouched original still contains every page before replacing or sharing anything.

If it does not work

  • If Delete is unavailable, open File > Document Properties > Security and check whether changing the document is allowed. Ask the owner for an editable copy instead of bypassing the restriction.
  • If Acrobat says one or more pages are in use, follow Adobe's linked error guide. It identifies Enable assistive technology support as a cause; if you rely on that accessibility feature, do not disable it just to edit the PDF—ask Adobe Support for an accessible alternative.
  • If the wrong page was removed and the copy is still open, use Undo before saving. If it was already saved, discard that copy and repeat the task from the untouched original.
Sources and verification

Checked against official documentation on . Scope: Adobe Acrobat desktop.

Source-checked against current Adobe Acrobat desktop guidance. The page is deliberately image-free because Organize pages, the page thumbnails, Pages Selected, Delete pages, and the confirmation are self-identifying controls in one short path; a generic screenshot would not add a decision the reader cannot make from the labels.
