Set Up Donations in Streamlabs

Source-checked About 15 minutes

Answer

Streamlabs now places donation setup under Tipping. Open Tipping in the Streamlabs Dashboard, connect a payment processor you control, configure and save the Tip Page, copy its public URL, and test the matching Alert Box before publishing the link. Streamlabs recommends PayPal Business when using PayPal so viewers are less likely to see personal account information.

Guide steps6 steps
  1. Open Tipping in the Dashboard
  2. Connect a controlled payment account
  3. Configure and save the Tip Page
  4. Inspect the public Tip Page
  5. Add and test the tip alert
  6. Publish only after both checks pass
  7. If it still does not work

Open Tipping in the Dashboard

Sign in to the official Streamlabs Dashboard and select Tipping in the left menu. Confirm the channel identity shown in the Dashboard is the channel that should receive support before connecting any payment account.

Connect a controlled payment account

Select Connect beside the payment option you intend to use and complete the provider's authorization window. For PayPal, Streamlabs recommends PayPal Business to limit exposure of a personal name and information. Enter credentials only on the provider's own authorization page and never give them to a moderator.

Configure and save the Tip Page

Set the currency, minimum tip, suggested amounts, and visible page details that fit the channel. Review the design and any public text, then select Save. Provider fees, tax treatment, chargebacks, and availability depend on the connected account and location.

Inspect the public Tip Page

Copy the Tip Page URL shown in Tipping and open it in a signed-out or private browser window. Confirm it loads the correct channel, uses the intended currency, and does not expose a personal name, email address, or account detail you did not intend to publish.

Add and test the tip alert

In Streamlabs Desktop, add Alert Box from the Sources plus menu if the scene does not already contain it. Save the tip-alert settings, then use Test Widgets in Streamlabs Desktop or the Dashboard test menu to trigger a tip alert without asking a viewer to send money.

Publish only after both checks pass

Success means the Dashboard shows the intended payment processor, the signed-out Tip Page shows the correct public identity and currency, and the test tip alert appears once with the expected sound and text. Only then add the Tip Page URL to the intended Twitch, YouTube, Kick, or other channel location.

If it does not work

  • If the Tip Page exposes a personal name or other unwanted detail, remove the public link and correct the payment-account type or public profile before accepting tips.
  • If the page works but no alert appears, confirm the Alert Box source, widget theme, tip alert, and saved settings, then run the built-in test again.
  • If a real payment does not reach the expected account, stop promoting the link, verify the connected processor in Tipping, and contact Streamlabs or the payment provider; do not ask viewers to repeat payments.
