From the COD Mobile lobby, tap the downward-arrow Download Manager, open its settings, and enable Stop Downloading All Resources or disable Auto Download. Also enable Ask Before Downloading when shown. This stops optional resources from downloading automatically; required base files and resources needed for a selected map, mode, weapon, or operator can still download.
From the main lobby, tap the downward-arrow Download Manager icon near the bottom of the screen. Wait for its resource categories and current download queue to load.
Tap the Download Manager settings or automatic-download control. Current builds can show Stop Downloading All Resources, Auto Download, and Ask Before Downloading rather than the exact older labels.
3
Stop optional automatic downloads
Enable Stop Downloading All Resources or turn Auto Download off. Enable Ask Before Downloading if it appears. Leave the manager open briefly and confirm the optional queue stops rather than immediately starting another category.
4
Keep the resources you actually use
Review Maps, Weapons, Operators, Audio, and other categories. Download the maps and resources required for the modes and loadouts you use; unavailable content will prompt for its required file when selected.
5
Remove old optional files only if needed
If storage is the reason for this change, use the Download Manager's Delete area and its current Quick Clean, Deep Clean, or category controls. Review the estimated storage change before confirming; do not clear app data or reinstall merely to remove one resource category.
6
Verify manual control
Return to the lobby, reopen the Download Manager, and confirm no optional resource is downloading on its own. Start one manual resource download and cancel or complete it to verify that manual downloads still work.
If it does not work
If a required map or mode will not start, return to the Download Manager and install that specific required resource; automatic-download controls do not make missing content playable.
If optional files resume after viewing a skin or operator, recheck both Stop Downloading All Resources or Auto Download and Ask Before Downloading.
If a major app update requires resources again, review the new Download Manager queue after updating; the preference cannot preserve files that the new version replaced.

The current Activision update notes document the lobby Download Manager and optional resource model; automatic-download labels can differ slightly between regional builds.
