Fix Warzone “GPU Driver Version Outdated” Error

Source-checked About 10 minutes

Answer

Open Activision's Warzone PC troubleshooting page and note the supported driver for your NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel graphics card. Install that driver from the GPU maker or your laptop manufacturer, restart Windows, and launch Call of Duty again. Success means Warzone reaches the menu without showing the “GPU Driver Version Outdated” message.

Guide steps5 steps
  1. Open Warzone's driver list
  2. Identify the graphics card
  3. Install the supported driver
  4. Restart Windows
  5. Launch Warzone again
  6. If it still does not work

Open Warzone's driver list

Open Activision's Warzone PC troubleshooting page and find Graphic Card Drivers. Note the entry for AMD, NVIDIA desktop, NVIDIA notebook, NVIDIA workstation, or Intel that matches your PC.

Identify the graphics card

Right-click Start, open Device Manager, and expand Display adapters. Use the NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel name shown there to choose the correct official update path.

Install the supported driver

For NVIDIA, use the NVIDIA app Drivers section; for AMD, run AMD Auto-Detect and Install; for Intel, use Intel Driver & Support Assistant. On a laptop or manufacturer-customized PC, use the computer maker's compatible package when the GPU installer directs you there.

Restart Windows

Finish the driver installation and restart Windows even if the installer does not require it. Reopen the same GPU tool and confirm the installed driver matches the supported branch for your hardware.

Launch Warzone again

Start Call of Duty from Steam or Battle.net and select Warzone. The update worked when the outdated-driver message no longer appears and Warzone reaches the Main Menu.

If it does not work

  • If Activision lists a final supported driver for an older NVIDIA architecture, use that stated version instead of assuming the newest package supports the card.
  • If the manufacturer installer rejects the PC or replaces the driver with a customized package, use the laptop or PC maker's support page and compare its installed version before retrying Warzone.
  • If the message remains after the correct driver is installed and Windows has restarted, send Activision Support the GPU model, installed driver version, Windows version, and a screenshot of the exact Warzone message.
