Fix Missing Display Settings in NVIDIA Control Panel

NVIDIA Control Panel shows display controls only for screens connected to the NVIDIA GPU. On a hybrid-graphics laptop, the built-in screen is often connected to Intel or AMD integrated graphics, so NVIDIA's 3D settings can appear without a Display section.
Right-click Start, open Device Manager, and expand Display adapters. Look for the NVIDIA GPU. If it has a warning symbol, open its Properties window and record the device status before changing anything.

Check the physical display connection
On a desktop, connect the monitor to a port on the NVIDIA graphics card rather than a motherboard video port. On a laptop, check the manufacturer's manual to learn which USB-C, HDMI, or DisplayPort connection is wired to which GPU.

Restart the PC
Choose Start > Power > Restart. A restart reloads the graphics driver and is more useful here than closing and reopening NVIDIA Control Panel.

Install the correct NVIDIA driver
Use NVIDIA's driver page to select the exact GPU and Windows version. Install the driver, follow its restart prompt, and avoid driver-download websites.
Right-click the desktop or search Start for NVIDIA Control Panel. If the screen is connected to the NVIDIA GPU, check for Display in the left sidebar. If it is connected to integrated graphics, use Windows or that GPU's display settings instead.

Use a laptop graphics switch only when documented
Some laptops have a MUX or discrete-GPU mode in the manufacturer's app or firmware. Use it only when the exact model's manual explains it and you understand the extra power use. A missing menu alone is not a reason to change firmware settings.
If it does not work
If no NVIDIA GPU appears in Device Manager, install Windows updates and the PC manufacturer's chipset and graphics packages, then check again.
If only an external monitor exposes NVIDIA Display settings, that usually means the external port is connected directly to the NVIDIA GPU while the built-in screen is not.
If the correct GPU has a persistent Device Manager error, record the error code and contact the PC maker or NVIDIA instead of repeatedly removing drivers.
