How to Fix CS2 Not Launching or Crashing on Startup

Answer
In Steam Library, clear unsupported CS2 Launch Options, then open Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. Launch normally through Steam. If it still closes before the menu, remove optional overlays or game modifiers and test Valve's -autoconfig launch option once. Unsupported hardware cannot be repaired with launch commands.
Launch CS2 once from Steam Library and note whether no window appears, a specific message appears, or the game closes before the main menu. Compare the PC with the current Steam requirements before changing files; an unsupported system needs supported hardware or software.
2
Clear custom launch options
In Steam Library, right-click Counter-Strike 2 and select Properties > General. Remove unsupported text from Launch Options, especially copied performance packs or old CS:GO commands, then close Properties and launch the game normally through Steam.
3
Verify the CS2 installation
If the game still fails, return to Properties > Installed Files and select Verify integrity of game files. Wait for Steam to complete the scan and any download, then launch CS2 again without adding another option.
4
Remove optional software conflicts
Exit optional recording overlays, injectors, ReShade, custom skin or texture tools, and overclock utilities, then restart Steam and test again. Keep Windows security enabled and do not download replacement DLL files or modified executables.
5
Try Valve's autoconfig fallback
If CS2 still closes before the menu, open Properties > General > Launch Options, enter -autoconfig, and launch once. After the game reaches the menu, exit it and remove -autoconfig so later launches use the settings the game saved.
6
Verify two clean launches
Launch CS2 through Steam, reach the main menu, exit normally, and launch it a second time. If it fails again, send Steam Support the exact symptom, PC hardware, Windows version, verification result, and the optional software you removed instead of repeating reinstalls.
If it does not work
If verification repeatedly reacquires files, remove optional modifiers and verify once more. Do not restore them until CS2 completes two clean launches.
If every 3D game crashes, use the graphics-card maker's current driver and hardware diagnostics; a CS2 reinstall is not evidence that the game is the cause.
If the game reaches the menu only with -autoconfig, rebuild the video settings gradually. Do not leave an undocumented bundle of old launch commands in place.
