For a black screen in the PC version of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, first disconnect optional controllers and update the graphics driver. Then open masterduel.exe Properties > Compatibility and enable Disable fullscreen optimizations. Restart the game and verify its Steam files if the black screen remains.
Note whether the screen turns black only after Master Duel enters fullscreen and whether game audio continues. If Windows, the monitor, and other apps also lose their picture, troubleshoot the display or PC instead of changing only Master Duel.

Disconnect optional input devices
Close Master Duel, unplug controllers and other optional USB input devices, and leave only the keyboard and mouse connected for one test. KONAMI recommends testing with the minimum operating setup.

Update the graphics driver
Install the current driver for the PC's NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel graphics adapter from that manufacturer or the computer maker, then restart Windows. A graphics driver is the software that lets Windows and the game use the video hardware.

Disable fullscreen optimizations
In Steam, right-click Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, choose Manage > Browse local files, right-click masterduel.exe, and open Properties > Compatibility. Turn on Disable fullscreen optimizations, select Apply, and start the game again. This Windows compatibility setting changes how fullscreen display is handled; it does not lower the game's graphics quality.

Check the PC requirements and display
Compare the PC with KONAMI's current requirements. If the whole display goes black, reseat or replace a loose display cable and make sure the PC and graphics card have adequate power. Skip hardware changes when every other app displays normally.

Verify the Steam installation
Restart Windows and Steam. In Steam Library, right-click the game, choose Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files, and wait for the check to finish before launching it again.
If windowed mode works but fullscreen stays black, keep Disable fullscreen optimizations enabled and report the display model, resolution, graphics adapter, driver version, and exact point of failure to KONAMI.
If the PC is below KONAMI's current requirements, repeated reinstalls cannot make unsupported hardware compatible; test on a supported PC instead.
