Turn Restricted Mode off from the YouTube account menu on each browser or device. If the control is locked, check account, network, Family Link or administrator restrictions.

Turn it off on a computer
Sign in, select your profile picture, open Restricted Mode and turn Activate Restricted Mode off.

Turn it off in the mobile app
Tap your profile picture > Settings > General, then turn Restricted Mode off. The exact path can vary by app version.

Check why it is locked
Use YouTube's content restrictions page to identify a network, administrator, supervised-account or mobile-provider restriction.

Change the controlling policy
Only the parent, organization, network administrator or provider that applied the restriction can remove a locked policy.

Confirm Restricted Mode is off
Reopen the account menu and confirm Restricted Mode is Off, then open a video that was previously filtered. Repeat the setting on any other browser or device where you want it disabled.

Resolve a locked setting
If the switch is unavailable, open YouTube's content-restrictions page and note whether the restriction comes from the account, network, administrator, Family Link, or mobile provider. Ask that owner to change the policy; signing out or clearing browser data cannot override it.

A school, workplace, family, or carrier restriction must be changed by the person or organization that controls it.
