Use Steam's Performance Overlay or Xbox Game Bar's Performance widget. Enable one counter before starting the game, then measure the same battle benchmark or campaign view with unchanged settings. FPS measures frame rendering; it does not measure multiplayer connection delay.

Close Warhammer III

Exit the game before changing overlay settings.

Enable Steam's overlay

Open Steam Settings > In Game, choose Single FPS Value or another Performance Overlay level, and select a corner.

Or enable Game Bar

Press Windows + G, open Performance, choose FPS, and pin the widget if you also need CPU, GPU, or RAM.

Choose a repeatable test

Use Warhammer III's built-in benchmark when available, or the same saved campaign camera position.

Record one baseline

Keep resolution, graphics preset, unit size, and display mode unchanged. Record average and lowest visible FPS.

Change one option

Adjust one setting such as shadows, anti-aliasing, or unit detail, then repeat exactly the same benchmark.

Turn the overlay off

Disable the Steam overlay level or unpin Game Bar after testing.

If it does not work

If the counter is missing, restart Steam or Game Bar and confirm overlays are allowed for the game.
If a campaign is slow but the battle benchmark is normal, compare campaign-specific settings and CPU load.
If animation is smooth but multiplayer orders are delayed, check the network and game service separately.
