Change Your VALORANT Region of Residence

Source-checked About 10 minutes

Answer

A VPN does not change a VALORANT account's region. Riot uses your Region of Residence to decide the shard, payment options, and who you can play with. Open Riot's official region article, select Log In, and use its eligibility tool when the listed residence is wrong. If you play 2XKO, stop and submit a ticket because Riot warns that the self-service change can reset 2XKO progression.

Guide steps7 steps
  1. Check whether the account region is actually wrong
  2. Open Riot's Region of Residence article
  3. Read the current and proposed regions
  4. Stop and use a ticket if you play 2XKO
  5. Submit the eligible residence correction
  6. Verify the corrected Riot account
  7. Recorded 2023 sponsor link, not the region method
  8. If it still does not work

Check whether the account region is actually wrong

Use this process when Riot shows the wrong currency, prevents you from queuing with friends who should share your shard, or lists a country where you no longer live. If only one game server has high ping, keep the account region and use the linked network guide instead.

Open Riot's Region of Residence article

Open the first source below, select Log In, and sign in with the exact Riot account used for VALORANT. Riot's authenticated tool checks the current residence and decides whether that account is eligible for a self-service change.

Read the current and proposed regions

Confirm that the tool names the wrong current location and the correct country where you now live. Do not continue merely to reach friends on another shard or obtain a different store currency; Region of Residence is meant to match the geographical area where you live.

Stop and use a ticket if you play 2XKO

Riot warns that the self-service region tool may reset a 2XKO account and remove its progression. If the same Riot account has 2XKO progress, do not confirm the tool; select Submit A Ticket on the Riot article and ask Support to review the transfer.

Submit the eligible residence correction

If the destination is correct and no 2XKO progression is at risk, follow the eligibility tool's confirmation screen. Save the result or ticket number. Riot, not a VPN or Windows setting, applies the account change.

Verify the corrected Riot account

Exit VALORANT and Riot Client, reopen Riot Client, and sign in again. Check that the expected store currency appears and that you can invite a friend on the intended shard. If either result is still wrong, reply through the same Riot ticket with the saved result instead of submitting repeated changes.

Recorded 2023 sponsor link, not the region method

The original article contained the two PrivadoVPN placements below. They remain recorded for affiliate continuity, but a VPN changes the network exit location, not Riot's Region of Residence, and is not required for any step above. Tech How may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

If it does not work

  • If Riot says the account is not eligible, use Submit A Ticket from the same article and provide the real current residence; do not retry through different VPN locations.
  • If the currency changes but friends are still unavailable, confirm that they are on the same Riot shard and that neither account has a queue or platform restriction.
  • If only match ping is poor after the correct region is confirmed, compare the available game servers and network statistics; another residence change is not a latency repair.
