Delete a TikTok Story

Source-checked About 10 minutes

Answer

Open your active TikTok Story from Following, Inbox, or Profile, swipe up, then tap Delete and confirm. You can also use the Share button at the bottom of the Story.

Confirm the Story and preserve its original

Open the intended TikTok account and confirm the exact active Story. Save the original video elsewhere first if you need to keep it, because deleting the Story removes the published copy.

Open the active Story

In TikTok, tap your profile photo at the top of Following, Inbox, or Profile.

Open Story actions

Swipe up on the Story, or use the Share button at the bottom.

Delete and confirm

Tap Delete, then confirm the deletion.

Verify the result

Refresh the profile from a trusted second account and confirm only the intended Story disappeared while saved original media remains available.

Report a missing delete control

If Delete is absent, update TikTok, reopen the Story from the profile, and use Settings and privacy > Report a problem with the account, Story timestamp, and visible controls. Do not use an automation tool to remove content.

If it does not work

  • If Delete is missing, verify you opened your own active Story and the correct clip. Do not clear app data or delete the account to remove one Story.
