On an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone, create a shortcut with Apple’s Use Model action and select Extension Model to send the prompt to ChatGPT. Availability depends on the current iOS version, device, language, region, and whether Apple Intelligence and its ChatGPT extension are enabled.
Update iOS, then open Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri and confirm Apple Intelligence is on. The ChatGPT extension is not available on every iPhone, language, or region, so stop if Extension Model does not appear rather than installing an unknown profile or entering an API key.

Create an empty shortcut
Open Shortcuts, tap the create-shortcut button, choose New Shortcut > Rename, enter a descriptive name such as Ask ChatGPT, and tap Add Action. A clear name also becomes the phrase you can use when running the shortcut with Siri.

Add the input for the request
Add Ask for Input when you want to type a new prompt each time, or use text passed from the Share Sheet when the shortcut should process selected content. Test with non-sensitive text first because the chosen model receives the content supplied to Use Model.

Add Use Model and choose ChatGPT
Search actions for Use Model, add it after the input, open its model menu, and choose Extension Model. Apple identifies Extension Model as ChatGPT; if only On-Device or Private Cloud Compute appears, ChatGPT is not currently available in this configuration.

Show and test the response
Add Show Result or Quick Look after Use Model, pass the model response into it, and tap the play button. Approve only permissions that match the shortcut, confirm a response appears, and check important output because generative-model answers can be inaccurate.

Run the finished shortcut safely
Run it from Shortcuts, Siri, the Home Screen, or the Share Sheet as appropriate. If it fails, reopen Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri, verify network access and the ChatGPT extension, then retest the same harmless prompt before adding personal data or automation triggers.

If it does not work
If Use Model is missing, confirm the iPhone supports Apple Intelligence and uses a currently supported language and region; updating the ChatGPT app alone cannot add Apple’s system action.
If Extension Model is absent but other models appear, the ChatGPT extension is unavailable or disabled. Use an available Apple model or enable ChatGPT through Apple Intelligence settings instead of importing a shortcut that requests an unknown key.
If the shortcut runs but shows no useful output, inspect the input passed into Use Model, add Show Result immediately after it, and test one plain-text prompt before rebuilding the shortcut.
