How to Change or Replace Your TikTok Profile Picture
Source-checked · About 10 minutes
Answer
TikTok officially documents adding or changing a profile photo, not removing it to leave the profile blank. Replace the current image with another photo you are entitled to use, then verify the saved profile.
1
Understand the supported outcome
TikTok's current help page supports adding or changing a profile photo. It does not document a Remove photo control, so this guide replaces the old image rather than promising a blank profile.
In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom, then tap Edit profile. Confirm you are signed in to the account whose public photo you intend to change.
3
Choose Change photo
Tap Change photo, then choose Take photo or Upload photo from your device. Grant camera or photo access only for the source you choose.
4
Select an appropriate image
Use an image you own or have permission to use. TikTok says uploaded photos must be at least 20 by 20 pixels; avoid an intentionally deceptive blank image or another person's identity.
5
Crop and save
Crop the image in TikTok's editor, review the visible circular framing, then tap Save and wait for the profile to refresh.
6
Verify the public profile
Leave Edit profile, reopen the profile, and confirm the replacement appears. A configured profile video can hide the profile photo, so review that separately if the new image is not visible.

If it does not work
If Save fails, update TikTok, confirm the image meets the minimum dimensions, and retry on a stable connection.
If a profile video is active, TikTok says profile photos will not be visible; decide whether to keep the video rather than repeatedly changing the photo.
