OBS recommends Window Capture rather than Game Capture for Roblox. Configure one source, confirm audio, use a short MKV test, and judge the result on your own PC instead of promising lag-free recording on every system.
1
Open Roblox and the target experience
Start the Roblox experience before choosing the OBS source. Keep the game window visible so you can identify the correct window in OBS.
2
Run OBS Auto-Configuration
In OBS, open Tools > Auto-Configuration Wizard and choose recording. Let OBS build an initial configuration based on the computer before making manual changes.
In Sources, click +, choose Window Capture, create a source, and select the active Roblox window. OBS specifically recommends Window Capture instead of Game Capture for Roblox.
Check the OBS preview with Roblox active. Resize the source only if needed so the game fills the recording canvas without exposing unrelated desktop content.
5
Check audio before recording
Watch Desktop Audio and Microphone meters in the OBS Audio Mixer while Roblox plays. Select the intended devices in Settings > Audio if the relevant meter does not move.
6
Set a safe recording destination
Open Settings > Output, choose a writable Recording Path, and select MKV. OBS recommends MKV to reduce the risk that an interruption corrupts the complete recording.
Start Recording, play for a minute, stop, and inspect the file. Compare Roblox responsiveness, captured frame pacing, audio, and file size before attempting a longer session.

If it does not work
If Window Capture is blank, make sure the Roblox window is open and selected, then restart OBS and Roblox before adding duplicate sources.
If recording affects playability, shorten the test and use OBS's Auto-Configuration result as the baseline; this guide does not promise that every PC can record Roblox without performance cost.
