Permanently Delete an Instagram Account
Source-checked About 10 minutes
Answer
Use Instagram Accounts Center to request permanent deletion, verify the selected profile, and complete confirmation. Deactivation is the reversible alternative.
Before you start
Download any Instagram information you need and confirm that you can still sign in to the exact account. Permanent deletion affects the profile, posts, comments, likes, and followers; temporary deactivation is the reversible alternative.
Open Instagram Accounts Center
Open Instagram's official deletion guidance and sign in only to the account you intend to delete. Use Accounts Center from Instagram or the linked official page, and verify the username and profile image before selecting account ownership controls.
Choose permanent deletion
Select the delete-account option, not temporary deactivation, and review the account name before continuing. Read Instagram's displayed deletion date and consequence before confirming; do not confuse Delete account with Deactivate account.
Complete the confirmation
Follow Instagram's confirmation prompts and keep the account accessible until the stated deletion period ends. Do not sign back in merely to check progress unless Instagram says how that affects the pending request.
Verify the result
Keep the confirmation and note the deletion date. Check that the selected account, not another profile in Accounts Center, is the one scheduled for deletion.
Troubleshoot Instagram account deletion
If Delete account is missing, the wrong profile opens, or the request is rejected, update Instagram and repeat through Accounts Center. Use Instagram recovery first if you cannot authenticate; do not give a code to a deletion service. If you might need photos, messages, or account history later, request and verify the download before deletion. The displayed grace period is not a substitute for that backup, and availability after the deadline should not be assumed.
