Compare one repeatable fight with the game's current Quality Preset lowered by one level. Keep the monitor's normal resolution first, then reduce Resolution Scaling a small amount only if more FPS is needed. Close heavy background programs, update Windows and the graphics driver, and verify the game files before reinstalling.
Square Enix lists its minimum hardware for 720p at 60 FPS and its recommended hardware for 1080p at 60 FPS. Compare the PC and available storage before expecting a higher resolution or frame rate.
Choose a short combat area you can repeat and note the resolution, Quality Preset, frame-rate limit, and approximate FPS. Delayed online actions with otherwise smooth animation point to the connection rather than the graphics settings.

Lower the Quality Preset
Open Display settings and lower Quality Preset by one level when that option appears. Apply the change and repeat the same fight before changing shadows, effects, or other individual controls.

Lower demanding effects carefully
If the preset is not enough, lower shadows, effects, or view distance one option at a time. Keep enemy attacks and important combat effects clear enough to react to them.

Reduce Resolution Scaling last
Keep Resolution Scaling at 100 percent for the first comparison. If the graphics card still cannot hold the target, lower it a small amount and retest; lower values improve performance by rendering fewer pixels but make the picture softer.

Close background work and update
Pause downloads and close browser video, recording, overlays, and launchers you do not need. Install current Windows and graphics-driver updates, restart the PC, and repeat the same fight.
For a Steam copy, verify the Outriders files before reinstalling. If performance remains abnormal, send Square Enix the platform, Windows version, CPU, graphics card, memory, multiplayer and crossplay state, and exact steps that reproduce the slowdown.
If reducing Resolution Scaling helps but the image becomes too soft, restore it and use a lower Quality Preset or lower shadow quality instead.
If FPS is stable in solo play but falls only in multiplayer, record the party size, crossplay state, and exact activity for Square Enix rather than deleting Windows files.
Do not set Outriders to High priority in Task Manager or delete Windows Prefetch files. Neither action is part of the current Square Enix recovery information.
