Fix Minecraft Error Code Ghast

Source-checked About 10 minutes

Answer

Minecraft defines Ghast as a credentials error. Sign out of the Microsoft account through Minecraft's control for your platform, fully close and restart the game, then sign back in. On Nintendo Switch, also clear account credentials from Settings > Profile before signing in again.

Guide steps5 steps
  1. Confirm Ghast and the platform
  2. Sign out of the Microsoft account
  3. Clear credentials on Switch
  4. Restart and sign back in
  5. Verify the account profile
  6. If it still does not work

Confirm Ghast and the platform

Record the exact named code and device. Use this workflow only for Ghast; another named code may identify a different cause.

Sign out of the Microsoft account

In the Launcher, use the gamertag menu > Log out. On Xbox, close Minecraft and sign out from Profile & system. On PlayStation, Switch, Android, or iOS, use Minecraft > Settings > Account > Sign out of Microsoft Account.

Clear credentials on Switch

On Nintendo Switch only, open Minecraft > Settings > Profile > Clear Account Credentials. Do not clear unrelated console data.

Restart and sign back in

Fully close and reopen Minecraft. Select Microsoft Login or Sign in for free; on console or mobile, enter the displayed code at aka.ms/remoteconnect when requested.

Verify the account profile

Success means the expected gamertag and profile load without Ghast. If the Microsoft account itself cannot sign in outside Minecraft, use Microsoft's Sign-in Helper rather than changing DNS, firewall, or router settings.

If it does not work

  • Double-check the intended Microsoft account before approving the remote-connect code.
  • If Ghast returns after a clean credential reset, preserve the platform, exact time, and code for Minecraft Support.
