Identify the display adapter
Right-click Start, open Device Manager, and expand Display adapters. Record the exact Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA model. If it says Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, Windows is using a generic driver instead of the manufacturer's graphics driver.

Install an official display driver
Open Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates and install any offered display driver. If none appears or the error remains, use the driver for the exact PC or GPU model from the PC maker first, then Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA.

Restart and test the official release

If it does not work
On a dual-GPU laptop, update both OEM graphics packages. If Minecraft still uses the wrong adapter, use Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics to set the listed Minecraft or Java app to High performance.
