Fix Lost Ark High Ping and Packet Loss

Source-checked About 10 minutes

Answer

First separate network lag from low FPS or input delay. For rubber-banding, delayed hits, disconnects, or lag spikes, record the server, region, time, and symptom, then stop competing downloads, verify files, restart the network equipment you control, and compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi. Change firewall rules only by following Lost Ark's firewall instructions.

Guide steps7 steps
  1. Identify a network symptom
  2. Record the affected session
  3. Check current Lost Ark issues
  4. Stop competing network traffic
  5. Verify files and restart the local connection
  6. Compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi
  7. Use the documented firewall exception only when indicated
  8. If it still does not work

Identify a network symptom

Use these steps for rubber-banding, attacks that register late, players running in place, disconnects, or lag spikes. Choppy animation with normal action timing is an FPS issue, while a delayed monitor response may be input lag. Treat those as different problems.

Record the affected session

Note the Lost Ark region, server, character or activity, local time, and exact symptom. Record whether every area is affected or only one activity. These details help Lost Ark Support check whether the problem is tied to a server or current incident.

Check current Lost Ark issues

Review the current Known Issues and support notices before changing the network. If a matching service problem is active, wait and test again with the same setup after the notice clears.

Stop competing network traffic

Pause Windows or game downloads, cloud backups, streaming, and other high-bandwidth work on devices you control. In Task Manager, sort Processes by Network to identify a local application using bandwidth, then repeat one comparable Lost Ark session.

Verify files and restart the local connection

Verify Lost Ark's files in Steam and let the check finish. Exit the game, then restart only the router and modem you are authorised to manage, following the normal boot order, before reconnecting and testing the same server.

Compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi

When practical, connect the PC by Ethernet and disable Wi-Fi for the comparison so Windows uses only the wired path. If the lag disappears, investigate wireless signal or interference. Re-enable Wi-Fi afterward if that is the normal connection.

Use the documented firewall exception only when indicated

If security software is blocking Lost Ark, use Windows Firewall's Allow an app control and add LostArkLauncher.exe as Lost Ark Support documents. Keep the firewall enabled; do not leave security disabled as a permanent latency fix.

If it does not work

  • If the problem follows one region or server across trusted connections, report the server, time, activity, and comparison to Lost Ark Support rather than repeatedly changing the local router or DNS.
  • If all internet services show loss or delay on both wired and wireless tests, keep the results and contact the network provider. Reinstalling Lost Ark cannot repair a wider connection problem.
