Change an Apple Account Payment Method on iPhone

Open Settings, tap your name, then Payment & Shipping. Add a new method or edit the existing one, then remove an old method only after checking subscriptions and any required balance.
Prepare and identify the exact scope
Confirm the Apple Account shown at the top of Settings and review active subscriptions, unpaid balances, Family Sharing, and the billing country or region. These conditions can require an existing method to remain on file.
Open Payment & Shipping
Open Settings, tap your name, then tap Payment & Shipping and authenticate if asked.
Add or edit the payment method
Tap Add Payment Method or select an existing method and use Edit to update its billing details.
Remove an old method only when eligible
Tap Edit, remove the old method, and resolve any subscription or balance requirement that prevents removal.
Verify the supported result
After adding or editing the method, return to Payment & Shipping and confirm the billing name, address, expiry date, and ordering are correct. Make a purchase only if you already intended one; do not spend money merely to test.
Understand limits and consequences
Removing a method does not cancel subscriptions, settle an unpaid balance, or change a purchase made through another Apple Account. A family organizer may need a valid shared payment method for family purchases.

If Apple declines the method, compare the billing details with the issuer, resolve any unpaid order, and ask the bank whether online or international Apple charges are allowed before repeatedly deleting and re-adding cards.
