How to Turn On Instagram Sleep Mode (Formerly Quiet Mode)
Source-checked About 10 minutes
Answer
Instagram renamed Quiet mode to Sleep mode. Turn it on from Time management, choose a daily schedule, and remember that it pauses notifications rather than blocking messages or hiding your account.
Open your Instagram profile
In the Instagram mobile app, tap your profile picture at the bottom right. Switch accounts first if you manage more than one profile.
Open Settings and activity
Tap the menu at the top right, then open Settings and activity. Labels can move during a staged app rollout, so update Instagram if Time management is absent.
Open Time management
Select Time management, then select Sleep mode. Some older app versions can still show the former Quiet mode name.
Turn Sleep mode on
Enable Sleep mode and choose the start and end times. Set the days of the week so the schedule matches when you actually want notifications paused, then reread the displayed schedule to catch an accidental morning-versus-evening selection.
Review what changes
During the scheduled period, Instagram changes your activity status and silences its notifications. People can still send messages, and the feature does not make the account private.
Adjust other notification categories separately
If you need different behavior outside the schedule, return to Notifications and change only the relevant categories rather than disabling all device notifications.
Video walkthrough
If it does not work
- If Sleep mode is unavailable, update the Instagram mobile app and check again; feature availability and names can vary by account or rollout. Avoid reinstalling until you have preserved any important drafts.
- Teen Accounts and supervised accounts can have additional default limits or family controls that the account holder cannot freely override.
