Instagram does not send a notification or provide a list showing who blocked you. A profile that disappears can also have been renamed, deactivated, deleted, or disabled, so the checks below are clues only and must not be used to bypass another person’s privacy choice.
Use Instagram search with the complete username rather than an old display name. No result is not proof of blocking because the owner may have changed the username and Instagram says disabled accounts are no longer visible.

Open an existing conversation
If you already exchanged messages, open that Direct thread and tap the profile name. An unavailable profile is consistent with blocking, deletion, deactivation, or Instagram disabling the account, so record the result without repeatedly contacting the person.

Check one saved profile link
Open a previously saved instagram.com/username link while signed into your normal account. Confirm the spelling once; do not use block-checker apps, scraped databases, shared passwords, or newly created accounts to get around a possible block.

Separate privacy from disappearance
A private profile still exists and can receive follow requests, whereas a blocked, deleted, renamed, or disabled profile may not open for you. The presence of a Private account label therefore indicates privacy settings rather than proving a block.

Treat the result as uncertain
If the profile remains unavailable only to your account, it may indicate a block, but Instagram intentionally does not notify blocked people. There is no supported control that converts these observations into confirmation.

Respect the boundary
Do not ask mutual contacts to investigate repeatedly or create alternate accounts to view the person. If someone blocked you, Instagram’s control is intended to restrict contact and should not be treated as a technical error to bypass.

If an old username no longer works, use only a legitimately known current username; username changes and disabled accounts can produce the same visible symptom as blocking.
