Hide an Instagram Post Without Deleting It

Use Archive rather than Delete
Archiving removes a post from your visible profile without permanently deleting it. The archived post remains available to you, along with its existing likes and comments. Confirm you are signed in to the account that published the post, because another account cannot archive it for you.
Open the post in Instagram
Use the Instagram app on a supported mobile device, tap your profile picture, and open the photo or video post you want to hide. Review the exact post before continuing, particularly when several posts use similar thumbnails.
Archive the post
Tap the post's three-dot options menu and choose Archive when Instagram presents it. Do not choose Delete. The post should disappear from the profile grid after the action completes; refresh the profile once if the grid has not updated.
Verify the post is private from the profile
Return to the profile and confirm the post is absent. Archiving hides it from other people rather than creating a separate private copy. Content that was shared elsewhere, captured by another person, or included in notifications may still exist outside the profile.
Find the archived post later
From your profile, open the menu and choose Archive. If Instagram shows multiple archive types, select Posts archive. Open the archived item and verify its content and engagement are intact before deciding whether to restore or permanently delete it.
Restore it to the profile if needed
Open the archived post's options and choose Show on profile when that control is available. Instagram returns it to its original chronological position rather than publishing it as a new post. Recheck the profile grid to confirm the restoration.
