Use the same map and location for every Escape from Tarkov test. In Settings > Graphics, lower shadows, object detail, visibility, and volumetric lighting one option at a time, then test DLSS or another upscaler only if the game offers it for your graphics card. Close heavy background apps and compare the PC with the current requirements before changing Windows or configuration files.
Compare the PC with the current minimum and recommended processor, memory, graphics, DirectX, and storage requirements. Tarkov's present requirements are much higher than many older guides show, so confirm this before expecting one setting to solve every slowdown.
Choose the same map, location, weather, and camera movement for each test, using an offline or practice run when available. Note the resolution, frame limit, and approximate FPS before changing a setting.

Lower shadows and object detail
Open Settings > Graphics and reduce Shadow Quality and Object LOD Quality one step at a time. Retest after each change, because setting everything to its minimum can move work to another part of the PC without fixing the real limit.

Reduce visibility carefully
Lower Overall Visibility one step and compare the same view. Stop before distant players, landmarks, or extraction routes become difficult for you to identify.

Disable volumetric lighting
Turn off Volumetric Lighting for one test. Battlestate specifically added this option to improve client performance on low-end PCs, so it is a better first choice than editing hidden files.
If DLSS or another upscaler is available for your graphics card, begin with Quality mode and compare the same scene. Use Balanced only if you need more FPS, and return to native rendering if scopes, fences, or distant movement become unclear.

Close heavy apps and repair files
Pause downloads and close unneeded browser video, recording, and overlay apps. Restart the launcher and PC, then open Escape from Tarkov Support or verify the Steam files if performance changed suddenly after an update.
If one map is much slower than another, keep separate notes for each map. A settings result from a small indoor area does not predict performance on a large outdoor map.
If FPS is steady but players teleport, shots register late, or the connection warning appears, troubleshoot latency or the server instead of lowering graphics again.
Avoid copied boot files, registry changes, CPU-affinity tweaks, and forced process priority. Battlestate's current troubleshooting information does not recommend them, and they can make the original problem harder to identify.
