Fix Epic Games Friend Invites That Do Not Send or Arrive

In Epic Games Launcher, open Friends > Add friend, search the exact Epic display name, and send one request. If it does not arrive, use only the matching state below; do not reinstall the Launcher or reset the network for an account-limit or permission problem.

Send one request

Open Epic Games Launcher, select the double-silhouette Friends icon in the top-right, then select the silhouette with a plus sign. Search the player's exact Epic display name, open the correct profile result, and select Add friend once; Epic does not support adding friends from the Store website.

If it is pending, check Requests

If the profile already says the request is pending, stop sending duplicates. Ask the other player to open Friends > Requests and accept it; also check your own Requests view in case that player sent the request first.

If you cannot send, clear your limits

If you have 500 pending outgoing requests, search an old pending recipient in Friends and select Cancel Request. Epic also caps either friend list at 1,000, so whichever account reached that cap must remove an existing friend it genuinely no longer wants before retrying.

If they cannot receive, clear their limits

The recipient must reduce their own incoming queue if it has reached 500. They should also open Friends, select their profile icon > Communication settings > Friend requests, and change Nobody to the audience they intend to allow; only that account owner should change this privacy choice.

If Epic shows the accept error, check the PIN

For accept-friend-request.error, the account owner or guardian opens Epic Account Settings > Parental Controls, enters the PIN, and opens Social Permissions. They can turn Require PIN to add Epic Friends off if that matches their intended rule, then retry; do not bypass a guardian's restriction.

If only one player fails, check blocks

Ask both people to check whether either account blocked the other on a linked PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam, or other external platform. Remove a block only with that platform account owner's consent, then send one fresh Epic request.

Confirm both accounts

Have the recipient confirm that the fresh request appears under Requests and accept it. Stop when both accounts show each other in Friends; the Send or Pending state alone is not proof that the invite arrived.

If it does not work

If search returns no profile, verify the current Epic display name character for character and try a partial search in the Launcher; a console nickname may be different.
If Friends or Requests is unavailable for many players, check Epic Online Services > Friends and the game's Parties, Friends, and Messaging component on Epic's status page before changing either account.
If only a child account is affected, the parent or guardian must manage or reset the Parental Controls PIN; do not change the restriction from another account.
If both accounts are below the documented limits and the request still fails, record the exact state or error and contact Epic Support instead of unlinking platforms, reinstalling the Launcher, or resetting Windows networking.
