On the Chess.com website, open Settings > All Settings > Gameplay and enable Premoves. In the Android or iOS app, open Home > Settings > Play > Live Chess and enable Premoves.

Enable premoves on the website
Select the Settings cog in the lower-left corner, choose All Settings > Gameplay, then turn on Enable Premoves.

Enable premoves in the mobile app
On Android or iOS, open Home from the bottom menu, tap Settings, choose Play > Live Chess, then turn on Enable Premoves.
Start a suitable Live Chess game and, during the opponent's turn, choose a legal move for your piece. Chess.com queues it and plays it when your turn begins if the opponent's move has not made it illegal.

Cancel a queued premove
Before your turn, right-click the premoved piece on the website or tap it in the mobile app to cancel the queued move.

Understand the clock effect
Chess.com says a premove uses 0.1 seconds of remaining time. If the opponent's move makes the queued move illegal, Chess.com cancels it and you must choose another move.

Troubleshoot a missing setting
Update the official Chess.com app, confirm you are signed in to the intended account, and recheck Home > Settings > Play > Live Chess. On the website, use All Settings > Gameplay rather than the board's visual settings.
