How to Show FPS in Elden Ring
Source-checked About 10 minutes
Answer
Use ELDEN RING's built-in performance display, Steam's in-game FPS counter, or the Windows Game Bar Performance widget. Measure the same scene before and after one settings change so FPS and network lag are not confused.
Choose a supported counter
Use ELDEN RING's built-in performance display when it has one. Otherwise use the launcher or operating system's supported overlay; do not install an FPS unlocker, injector, modified DLL, or unknown monitoring package.
Open the Steam FPS counter
For a Steam game, open Steam > Settings > In Game, choose an In-game FPS counter position, and start ELDEN RING. If the setting is unavailable or the game does not use Steam, use the supported platform method below.
Open Windows Game Bar
On Windows, press Windows+G, open the Performance widget, select the metrics you need, and pin the widget if desired. Grant only the normal Windows permission requested for performance counters, then restart when prompted.
Measure the same scene
Stand in the same ELDEN RING location and repeat the same action for each test. Record FPS or frame time separately from ping; frame rate measures rendering, while ping measures network response.
Change one setting
Open ELDEN RING's Video or Graphics menu and change one supported option, such as resolution scale, shadows, effects, or an in-game frame cap. Repeat the same scene before changing another option.
Interpret the result
A repeatable FPS drop points to rendering or system load; high ping with stable FPS points to the connection or server. If only one area or server performs poorly, the cause may be game content rather than the whole device.
Turn the overlay off
Disable or unpin the counter when testing is complete. Keep the measured configuration that is smooth and readable, and include the device, scene, FPS, ping, and exact time in an official support report.

If it does not work
- If the overlay does not appear, confirm the game uses the selected launcher and that overlays are allowed; use the operating-system counter instead of forcing an injector.
- If FPS is stable but actions arrive late, troubleshoot ping, packet loss, or the game service rather than lowering graphics.
