Edit a PDF on Android with Adobe Acrobat
Source-checked About 10 minutes
Answer
Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat for Android, choose Edit PDF, select the text you need to change, make the edit, and save the result. Some editing features require an Acrobat subscription.
Open the PDF in Acrobat
Install or update Adobe Acrobat from the official app store, then open the PDF you are authorised to change. Keep a separate original copy before changing contracts, invoices, or signed records.
Choose Edit PDF
Open the file and select Edit PDF from the bottom menu. Acrobat may ask you to sign in or show that the feature needs a subscription before editing is available.
Select the text
Tap the text you need to change and adjust the selection handles carefully. Confirm the text is editable rather than a scanned image before you start changing the document.
Make a small edit
Use the Edit controls to add, replace, or delete only the text you are authorised to modify. Keep formatting changes limited so the meaning and layout of the document remain clear.
Recognise scanned text when appropriate
For a scanned PDF, use More tools, Recognize text, then wait for optical character recognition to finish before choosing Edit text. OCR can misread names, numbers, and tables, so compare the result with the scan.
Save and inspect
Select Done and save the edited copy, then review every changed page at normal reading size. Share the new copy only after checking numbers, dates, signatures, and formatting.
Video walkthrough
If it does not work
- If Edit PDF is missing, check whether your Acrobat plan includes that feature instead of downloading an unknown editor or modifying the file format.
- If the PDF is password-protected or restricted, ask the owner for an editable copy. Do not try to remove document protection without permission.
- If OCR changes a scanned document incorrectly, correct the text manually against the original image or leave the scan unchanged when accuracy matters.
