Download a TikTok Video Using TikTok's Official Options

Source-checked About 10 minutes

Answer

For another creator's post, open the video, select Share, then Save video; if Save video is absent, the creator does not allow downloads. TikTok does not document an official way to remove its attribution from a downloaded post, so use your own original file or ask the creator for an authorized unbranded copy.

Guide steps5 steps
  1. Choose the correct source
  2. Open TikTok's download control
  3. Save and verify the post
  4. Save your own video before posting
  5. Get an authorized unbranded copy
  6. If it still does not work

Choose the correct source

Use your original camera or editing export when the video is yours. For somebody else's post, continue only if the creator has enabled TikTok's download control and you have permission for your intended reuse.

Open TikTok's download control

Open the post in TikTok and select Share. Look for Save video in the action panel; its absence means the creator does not allow that post to be downloaded.

Save and verify the post

Select Save video and wait for TikTok to confirm the save. Open Photos, play the new file, and verify that it is the intended post before editing or sharing it.

Save your own video before posting

On TikTok's Post screen, select More options and turn on Save to device before you publish. While editing, TikTok may also show Save in the side panel; keep this original instead of trying to strip attribution from a posted copy.

Get an authorized unbranded copy

If you need another creator's video without TikTok attribution, ask that creator to send their original export and agree how it may be used. Do not send a TikTok link, login, or verification code to a watermark-removal website or shortcut.

Video walkthrough

If it does not work

  • If Save video is missing, the creator has disabled downloads for that post; there is no supported viewer-side switch to override it.
  • If your own newly created video is not saved, return to the Post screen before publishing and confirm More options > Save to device is on.
  • If you already published your own video and need a clean master, look for the original camera or editor export. TikTok's official download page does not promise an unbranded copy of a posted video.
Sources and verification

Checked against official documentation on . Scope: iPhone & iPad.

TikTok documents Save video for downloadable posts and Save to device for a creator's own video before posting; it does not document an official watermark-removal workflow.
