Download an audio file only from a source that authorizes the download, then find it through Safari's Downloads control or the Files app. A downloaded audio file remains a file; it is not automatically added to the Apple Music library.

Confirm the download is authorized
Use a trusted website that explicitly offers the audio file for download and make sure you own it or have permission to save it. Do not use converter sites or bypass a streaming service's download and copyright controls.

Start the Safari download
Open the authorized download page in Safari, tap its download link, and confirm Download when Safari asks. Keep the page open until Safari shows that the transfer has started.

Check progress in Safari
Tap the Downloads button beside Safari's search field, then tap Downloads to view the current transfer and open the completed file.
Open Files, tap Browse, then open Downloads. Depending on the configured Safari download location, Downloads can be under iCloud Drive or On My iPhone.
Tap the audio file to preview it. Use the Files app's Move or Share controls if you need a different folder or an authorized copy in another app; moving the file does not add it to Apple Music.

Verify the saved copy
Close Safari, reopen Files > Downloads, and play a short section. Confirm the file name, format, source, and expected duration before deleting any original copy.

If the Downloads button is missing, open Files > Browse and check both iCloud Drive and On My iPhone, then review Safari's configured download location.
If a site streams audio but offers no authorized file-download control, do not substitute an unofficial downloader; use the provider's supported offline feature instead.
