Change your Discord profile picture on mobile

On Android or iPhone, open Discord and tap your avatar at the bottom right > Edit Profile > your current avatar or Change Avatar. Choose an image, adjust the circular crop, tap Apply or Choose, then tap Save. This changes your main Discord avatar everywhere except servers where you use a separate Nitro server avatar.

Open Edit Profile

Open Discord on Android or iPhone. Tap your avatar in the bottom-right corner, then tap Edit Profile on your profile screen. Stay on this main profile path; Edit Per-server Profile changes only your identity in one server.

Choose the image

On Edit Profile, tap your current avatar or Change Avatar, then choose the upload option. Select the intended image in the Android or iPhone picker. You should return to Discord with that image inside a circular preview.

Crop and apply it

Move or zoom the image until the important part fits inside the circle. Tap Apply or Choose, whichever Discord shows. The Edit Profile screen should now display the new avatar preview; if it still shows the old picture, do not save yet.

Save and verify

Tap Save in the top-right corner, return to your main profile, and confirm the new avatar appears there. If one server still shows a different picture, that server has its own Nitro profile; check a direct message or another server to verify the main avatar.

If it does not work

If the image picker does not open or the image is absent, reopen the phone's photo-access prompt and allow Discord to use that image. On iPhone, selected-photo access is sufficient; do not use a third-party avatar uploader.
If an animated GIF remains static or cannot be selected, use a PNG or confirm that the account has Nitro; animated account avatars are a Nitro feature.
If Discord refuses another avatar change after several attempts, stop retrying. Discord documents a limit of two username or avatar changes in one hour.
If only one server still shows the old or a different avatar, open that server's profile and check whether a per-server avatar is active; changing it is separate and requires Nitro.
