How to Delete Messenger Messages and Chats (No Bulk Delete)

Messenger lets you delete individual messages or entire chats, but Meta does not provide an official delete-all-chats control. Delete each item deliberately and choose between deleting only your copy and deleting a sent message for everyone when that option is available.

Open the correct conversation
In Messenger, open the chat containing the message you want to remove. Confirm the recipient or group before deleting because similarly named conversations can be easy to confuse.

Open the message options
On a phone, touch and hold the specific message. On the web or desktop interface, point to the message and open its More or options control.

Choose Delete or Remove
Select Delete or Remove, using the label shown in your current Messenger version. Read the confirmation before continuing.

Choose who loses access
Use Delete for you to remove only your copy. If Messenger offers Delete for everyone for a message you sent, choose it only when you intend to remove that message from other participants' visible chat history too.

Delete a whole chat from the chat list
Return to Chats, open the conversation's options, choose Delete chat, and confirm. This removes the conversation from your account but does not erase the other participants' copies.

Repeat only for chats you intend to remove
Meta documents deletion per message or per chat, not one supported action that clears every Messenger conversation. Repeat the process manually and avoid extensions or scripts that request access to your account.
