First check OpenAI Status. If sign-ups are working, open the official ChatGPT page, turn off any VPN or proxy, and try once in a private browser window. Go directly to chatgpt.com and choose Sign up. Do not enter your email, password, or verification code into an advertisement, copied app, or account-selling website.
If you may already have an account, choose Log in and use the same method you used before, such as email, Google, Microsoft, Apple, or your organization's sign-in. OpenAI says a different method can cause an identity-provider mismatch.
Open a private window, allow cookies and JavaScript for ChatGPT, and try once. Temporarily pause only extensions that change sign-in pages.

Turn off a VPN or proxy
Retry from your normal trusted connection. Check that your country appears on OpenAI's supported-country list; do not use a location tool to work around an availability restriction.
Confirm the full email address and look in Spam or Junk for the newest OpenAI message. Never share a verification code with support or another website.

If status is clear and the same error appears in a clean browser, open the Help Center messenger. Include the exact message, time, country, browser, and sign-in method, but never your password or verification code.
