Change your Game Center profile on Mac

On current macOS, edit the Game Center nickname or avatar in the Apple Games app, or open System Settings > Game Center and choose Customize Profile. Your profile can be visible to friends and, for global leaderboards, other players.
Open your Game Center profile
Open the Apple Games app on the Mac and click your avatar in the upper-right corner. If you have not set up Game Center, sign in with the Apple Account you intend to use first.
Choose Edit Profile
Click Edit Profile from the avatar menu. Confirm you are editing the intended Apple Account before changing a nickname that friends and games can see.
Change the avatar
Hover over the avatar, click Edit, select an available avatar, then click Save. Do not assume a game’s own character image is controlled by this setting.
Change the nickname
Select the current nickname, enter a new available name or choose a suggestion, then close the profile when you are finished.
Review visibility
Use Game Center settings to review activity sharing and friend-discovery choices. Nicknames and avatars are visible to friends, and can be public in games with global leaderboards.
Verify in a game
Return to the profile and, if possible, open a Game Center-enabled game to confirm the expected nickname and avatar appear. Game-specific profiles can remain separate.

If it does not work
- If Customize Profile is missing in System Settings, use the Apple Games app path and check that you are signed in to Game Center.
- If a particular game still shows an old identity, check that game’s own profile settings; Apple does not state that every game uses the Game Center profile as its visible player name.
