Customize your iPhone call poster

Source-checked About 10 minutes

Answer

Open Contacts, select My Card, edit your contact photo and poster, then control whether it is shared with contacts or only when you approve.

Open My Card

Open the Contacts app on your iPhone, tap My Card at the top, then tap Edit. If My Card is missing, create your contact card first and choose Make this My Card.

Create or edit the poster

Tap your contact photo, then choose and customize the photo and Contact Poster that can appear when you call or message other people.

Preview and save the design

Adjust the crop, font, color, and background until the preview is readable, then tap Done. Review the contact photo and full-screen poster previews before saving the updated card.

Choose how it is shared

Turn on Name & Photo Sharing. Choose Contacts Only to share automatically with your contacts, or Always Ask to approve sharing each time.

Verify with a trusted contact

Call or message a trusted contact and confirm the intended name, photo, and poster are offered according to the sharing choice. Their own Contacts settings can affect what they see.

Video walkthrough

If it does not work

  • If My Card is missing, create a contact for yourself, touch and hold it in the contacts list, then choose Make this My Card.
  • If a contact still sees an older image, confirm Name & Photo Sharing is on and ask them to review the saved contact card on their device.
