Change Your Black Ops Cold War Name or Activision ID

Change the name shown in Black Ops Cold War from Options > Account > Activision Account > Change Display Name, or edit your Activision ID under Basic Info on the Activision website. A normal change requires a Username Change Token; Activision provides one every six months and lets you hold up to two. There is no supported token bypass.

Check that a token is available

Open Black Ops Cold War, press Options on the home screen, open Account, and select Activision Account. Confirm that Change Display Name is available. A standard change uses one Username Change Token; Activision grants a new token every six months and allows up to two unused tokens.

Open Change Display Name

Select Change Display Name, enter the Activision ID you want, and choose Confirm. Check the spelling before confirming because the change consumes a token.

Use the Activision website instead

If you prefer the web path, sign in to your Activision account, open Basic Info, select Edit beside Activision ID, complete the requested verification, enter the new display name, and save it.

Verify the new name in game

Return to Black Ops Cold War and reopen Activision Account or Social. The task is complete when the new Activision ID appears on the intended account. If the old name remains, close and reopen the game once before attempting another change.

If it does not work

  • If no token is available, wait for Activision's next six-month token grant. There is no supported method to make a normal change without a token.
  • If the name was changed without your permission, secure the account and use Activision's hacked-account recovery process instead of spending another token.
  • If verification goes to an email address you cannot access, use Activision's account-recovery or support path. Do not unlink the platform account to work around verification because progression is tied to the Activision account.
