Bing Chat is now Microsoft Copilot. If Copilot shows 'Something went wrong,' save the exact message and time, retry one simple text-only prompt, update and restart the app or browser, and test a private window. Clear only Copilot site data when the private-window test works, then check account or organization restrictions.
Open the official Copilot site and note whether Copilot shows 'Something went wrong', sign-in loops, or the whole page fails. Save the visible message and time because a prompt-processing failure and a browser-loading failure are not the same problem.
2
Retry one simple request
Start a new conversation and send a short text-only request without an attachment. If only one prompt fails, simplify it before treating Copilot as unavailable.
3
Update and reopen Copilot
Update the Copilot app or current stable browser, close it completely, and reopen the official app or copilot.com with cookies and JavaScript allowed.
Open Copilot in a private or InPrivate window and sign in once. If the request works there, stored site data or an extension in the ordinary profile is the likely difference.
5
Clear only Copilot site data
If the request works in a private window, first disable only extensions that alter Microsoft pages. If needed, remove cookies and storage only for Copilot and Microsoft sign-in domains, close the browser, and sign in again.
6
Compare another permitted connection
Turn off an unnecessary VPN or proxy and test a normal trusted network. Do not use location tools to evade age, country, account, or organization restrictions.
7
Check restrictions and report the error
If the same message appears in another current browser and permitted connection, check whether family, age, region, or work or school policy restricts Copilot. Report the exact text, time, account type, app or browser version, and a harmless example request through Microsoft Support.

A work or school administrator can disable Copilot or connected features; ask the administrator when a personal account works but the managed account does not.
If only one prompt fails, simplify it and remove unsupported attachments before treating the entire service as unavailable.
